Manaiakalani: Toolkit Completed

Following our last KPMG session, I have made the final changes to the toolkit.

I have also started my slide presentation and beginning to put all the pieces together for the big event in October.

The journey and experience has been like the movie 'Cool Runnings' there have been the starts, crashes and more importantly the support and encouragement from a number of people from Manaiakalani and Wesley Primary School.

Finally, the dragon has been slayed and the toolkit has been completed. Financial Enterprise

  1. Thank you Santi - you have been busy slaying dragons. The Financial capability progressions have provided a sound framework for your enterprise Santi and as you have found, there is a wealth of resources available to teachers to tap into. I think a clearer title for the tool is needed and the achievement challenge you are meeting with the tool, so we see the link. As a new
teacher going to use this tool, do you feel the teacher portal will help me to know what to do.
Similarly with the student portal, are the instructions clear enough for them to get started and
use and understand the purpose of the tool. There are a lot of activities for the students to do and I wondered where you got them from and how you decided they were going to suit the needs of these particular students. How did you test the tool and where are the results of the tests ie. anecdotal, surveys, interviews, graphs, teacher thoughts, student evaluations? Did you read what Rebecca and Aaron suggested when evaluating your tool
Profiling: understanding the nature of the students’ learning strengths and needs in detail
Hypothesis generation and testing: identifying and systematically testing possible explanations for the issue. This includes developing a rich picture of relevant aspects of your current teaching
Intervention design: Using research evidence to design a solution to the problem you have profiled
Intervention: implementation & monitoring of new approaches
    Evaluation
Why you judged this to be the most important and catalytic issue of learning for this group of learners this year ? Your Blog is not showing me the narrative of your journey and what the evidence or data showed and why you made the decisions and changes along the way as a result of interrogating the evidence. What happened to the achievement of the students? Don't despair Santi all good research/inquiry has to stand up to scrutiny so its effectiveness can be assessed. You have some great ideas here, which look very engaging, so keep slaying the dragon as it is not finished until it is finished.
