Manaiakalani: Prototype 2

After attending the EdTech Summit in Sydney.

I started to explore and ponder the idea(s) and conversations I had with the officials and participants from the New South Wales Department of Education

Representatives from the NSW of Education spoke strongly about using Google Sites for the teachers around the state to place their teaching and learning on the site. Teachers are able to access resources, activities, and materials within their curriculum area.  As one official said "why re-invent the wheel and spending many hours of teaching time creating teaching material when the Department can help and support teachers i.e. in Science on a unit of work.

Also, I attended a number of workshops delivered by a number of teachers from both Australia and New Zealand who spoke highly about the advantages and benefits of using Google Sites.

This allowed me to ponder and reevaluate the journey of my tool and the decision was made to change my prototype and use the vehicle of 'Financial Literacy' a real-life context for my priority learners in Mathematics and use a Google site to drive my teaching and learning for the students to use problem-solving to progress and accelerate their learning in the subject.

The holidays were used to create and develop the site.

The site will be shared with the other 2 teachers who will deliver the programme in Term 3. I will also seek student's voice and await the next KPMG meeting with the other MIT participants in August.
